Dear Tor, this is a version based on my PhD research. The Business Model Canvas has slightly different elements and is not as granular. Best, Alex

Business Model Foundry - the iPad app

Some of you know that we are working on an iPad app to help entrepreneurs and intra-preneurs develop innovative business models. We decided to do this as transparently as we have for the book. Please join us on our journey and give us your feedback!

In the slides below we outlined the specs for a minimal viable (app) product (MVP). It is the "heart" of the app we are developing and it will obviously evolve into something more sophisticated over time. But we want to test the MVP with (… Continue

Full Preview of Business Model Generation to Shorten the Waiting

The books have left the logistics center and are on the way to your home. It will take 6-13 days for them to arrive (we would have loved to make that shorter, too ;-)

To shorten the waiting time, however, we give you a full digital preview. Since Business Model Generation is a very tactile book it is, of course, nothing close to the real thing. That is one of the reasons why we are not selling any ebooks at the moment. The format & design does simply not come over right on screens. W… Continue

Preview of Business Model Generation

As I mentioned earlier we will send you the finished book for free (rather than at the 50% discount that was initially foreseen for the Hub). It is going to production these days.

In the meantime you may want to download the entire Business Model Canvas section and some additional spreads as a pdf document. Don't hesitate to forward it - we already make it availa… Continue

Book Printing, Pricing and Distribution Issues...

On Monday and Tuesday Alan Smith and I were in the Netherlands to visit the book printer, book binder, and cover printer together with Patrick Pijl. The whole visit was organized by Maarten Modderman who is specialized in printing special books.

I made a little video below that shows some images of the visit. Most interestingly, at 0:35 into the video Mike Silva of the book binding company explains the special technique they will use to bin… Continue

Cover Design Continued

After agonizing over the right type of cover and asking you for your profile photos we had to go down a completely different route based on production constraints. We came back to the initial designs, but slightly changed the concept. The cover will be printed on a sort of cardboard, which goes with the special format of our book that will allow you to keep it open & flat on a table. Find the designs and a cool video of "the making of the cover" below.

Here Alan's explanations/rationale:Continue

Thanks Alex, I wrote a longer post on the subject (tech as a commodity, value added via remarkable design and business model innovation) on my blog, I'd love your opinion on it:

Hi Alex,

I finished reading Business Model Generation yesterday. It was a good read. You and Yves have done a great job in making the book visually, as well as intellectually appealing. I thought it was a great summary of all the strategy courses that I took at the Rotman School of Management in Canada. I, specifically liked the 'Value Innovation' section, which confirms my theory that non-profit can be profitable as well.

Collaborating with diverse group, is very inspiring. I hope to add value to this Business Model Generation Hub.

I see that you have a workshop set-up in San Francisco in the Summer of 2010. I wish you had some sort of discount for people who are in between jobs so that they can avail the opportunity as well, and attend your workshops.

Best,
Shalu

Hi Alex,

We are organizing an innovation management conference in Poland on 25.11.2009 along with a Polish Business Daily "Puls Biznesu".
We are planning to present the current hottest innovation topics - among others we would like to introduce also Business Model Generation. Would you be interested in dropping by and giving a 45 min. speech on this topic to a group of Polish Top Executives and Entrepreneurs?
In addition as hub members we would like to further advance the concept BMG to the Polish audience - in view of this would you be interested in releasing the Polish edition of the Book? Pls let me know what you think.

Best regards,

Rafal Dudkowski
